In order to better serve you and meet the needs of our growing organization, the Coolidge is evaluating a building expansion project that will enable us to add a new 180 seat theater, enlarge our existing lobby, and improve concessions and bathroom facilities. Improvements will be made to the rear exterior of the building (pictured here), including reconfigured parking and loading areas, and the cover of a building cantilever to shield patrons from inclement weather.
Realizing our vision for the building expansion requires building up to the rear property line. Our plan requires modification of an existing easement with the Town of Brookline and a grant of air rights for the new theater to extend over the new sidewalk. If these changes are approved by town meeting, the theater will begin formal design of the project followed by the municipal design approval process.
The Coolidge is considering two configurations for the building expansion. The first (Aerial Sketch of 2-Story Project), pictured at left, envisions a new 180 seat theater, expanded lobby, and improved concessions and bathroom facilities.
The second (Aerial Sketch of 3-Story Project), incorporates all of the above along with a third floor for office and community meeting space.
