You count on the Coolidge to exhibit the best feature films, independent offerings, documentaries, world cinema, and animation - multi-week runs for your viewing pleasure. As a nationally recognized non-profit cultural institution and one of the nation’s premier movie houses, our mission includes our intention to be as responsive as possible to all sectors of our community, over and above our regular movie programming.

With that in mind, we produce special events, series, and off-peak programs with you, all of you, in mind. If you haven’t sampled the full range of Coolidge programming yet, you might be surprised at the diverse range available at your favorite theater!

  • After Midnites: Late night weekend programming for the cool insomniac crowd, including horrifying, weird, camp, avant-garde, tripped- out movies, interactive and cult niche live performances.
  • Big Screen Classics: Everyone’s favorite silver screen gems, shown the way great movies were meant to be seen.
  • Box Office Babies: New parents can watch the latest movies in our big theater and bring their own “new productions”! Infants welcome: no need to be quiet, at these baby-friendly daytime screenings.
  • Best of Russian Ballet: Performances from the great Russian ballet companies, broadcast in high definition on our silver screen.
  • Coolidge Award: Our most prestigious event of the year. The Coolidge celebrates outstanding contributions to cinema by honoring a selected world class film artist with a month-long program, including two days of events with the honoree in person.
  • Coolidge Award Honorees: A complete list, with photos and video, of Coolidge Award Recipients from previous years.
  • Coolidge Award Repertory Screenings: A series of films celebrating our Coolidge Award recipient featuring some of the most outstanding and praised work from their careers.
  • Deaf and Hard of Hearing: The Coolidge Corner Theatre is committed to making our film screenings accessible to our hearing-challenged patrons. This series addresses the issues involved.
  • Europe’s Grand Operas: High Definition presentations of current spectacular opera productions from premier international venues including La Scala and the Salzburg Festival.
  • Goethe German Films: In partnership with The Goethe-Institute Boston we present new films from Germany with a special focus on the work of emerging directors.
  • Green Screens Film Series: Green Screens is an innovative, year-round program devoted to raising audience awareness of environmental issues.
  • Kids’ Shows: The best of shorts, feature and animated films , as well as live entertainment - geared towards children 3-10 years old and their families.
  • NT Live: High Definition big-screen presentations of live productions from London’s prestigious National Theatre.
  • Off The Couch: Monthly screenings of current films hosted by prominent members of the Boston Psychoanalytic Society, followed by lively discussions.
  • Science On Screen: Unexpected pairings of feature film or documentary with renowned experts from the world of scientific and medical research.
  • Senior Matinees: Weekly low-cost day time screenings of our current films for patrons over the age of 62.
  • Shorts Festival: A year-round program in which four short films (5 minutes and under) are be selected each month to screen before feature films. All genres will be considered including live action, animation, and experimental.
  • Talk Cinema: Sneak previews of outstanding new cinema, hosted by New York film critic Harlan Jacobson in conversation with filmmakers, colleagues and our audience.
