CHLOTRUDIS SHORTSMarch 2 - 8 @ 7:00 nightly See the top finalists for this annual shorts festival programmed by members of Boston’s Chlotrudis Society for Independent Film (CSIF) and cast your vote for the Audience Award. CSIF is a Boston-based non-profit group devoted to honoring and supporting independent and foreign films and their audiences. Past films have come from all over the world and winners have found success on the film fest circuit (last year’s DARLING DARLING made it to Montreal and Boston’s own IFFB). FILMS INCLUDE: ALMANAC by Bruce Knapp (USA - 9 minutes) - With a year's worth of backyard time-lapse footage as the backdrop, the film chronicles a tenant's relationship with his landlady during her descent into senility. FORGETTING BETTY by James Anderson and Robert Postrozny (USA - 10 minutes) – This film weighs the joys of living life against the fears of aging when a 96-year-old widow spends a fleeting day with her grandson. IN THE TRADITION OF MY FAMILY by Todd Davis (USA - 15 minutes) - A tradition of violence that goes back generations is threatened when one father hesitates to indoctrinate his son into the insanity. PORTRAIT AS by Claire Fowler (UK - 7 minutes) - A visual portrait of the disabled avant garde filmmaker Stephen Dwoskin, as represented by his environment. PUPPET by Patrick Smith (USA - 6 minutes) - A young man fabricates a simple sock puppet, not knowing the abuse the entity will soon inflict upon its creator. SOME DREAMS COME TRUE by Christopher Kenworthy (Australia - 7 minutes) - Conrad meets the girl of his dreams at his wedding - but she isn't the bride. SOUNDS by Nick J. Palmer (USA - 9 minutes) - A terrifying break-in forces an aging mother to face a shocking secret about her son. THE STORY OF BUBBLEBOY by Sean Ascroft (Australia - 6 minutes) - In a stab-happy world, a sad outcast wrestles with his demons. TIL DEATH DO US PART by Bryan Nest (USA - 6 minutes) - A bride dumped on her wedding day considers jumping off a fifteen story building. She first throws her wedding ring off and it happens to fall in a man’s cup: he is obsessed with fate and coincidence. TRINA'S COLLECTIONS by Ellen Lake (USA - 6 minutes) - This short documentary celebrates San Francisco resident Trina Robbins and her eclectic collections: girl action figures, super heroines, vintage aprons, rubber bathtub toys and more. THE WINE BAR by Christian Remde (USA - 12 minutes) - On a winter night in New York City, an average guy wanders into an upscale wine bar looking for a beer. |
