The Coolidge Corner Theatre

Georgi Daneliya’s WALKING THE STREETS OF MOSCOW stars a young Nikita Mikhalkov as Kolya, a young construction worker. When Volodya, a friend and aspiring writer, comes to Moscow from Siberia, Kolya tries to arrange a meeting for him with a noted author. Kolya’s childhood friend, Sasha, wishes to get married but first must procure an army deferment. Add to the group of men pretty Alena, whom Kolya is taken with -- unfortunately Alena seems to desire Volodya more. Whimsical and full of wisecracking dialogue, WALKING THE STREETS OF MOSCOW showcases a sense of hope and promise in the Soviet future.
