Newburyport-based musical collective Tiger Saw will present a live score to THE ADVENTURES OF PRINCE ACHMED (Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed), the 1926 cartoon feature by German animator Lotte Reiniger. Based on elements taken from the collection "1001 Arabian Nights," PRINCE ACHMED is the oldest surviving feature-length animated cartoon. A stunning work of early animation, the film was animated entirely using a technique Reiniger invented which utitized manipulated silhouette cutouts made from cardboard and thin sheets of lead under a camera. With the assistance of Aladdin, the Witch of the Fiery Mountain, and a magic horse, the the Prince battles the evil African sorcerer to win the hand of Princess Peri Banu.

Tiger Saw is a musical collective founded in Newburyport, MA in 1999 by Dylan Metrano. It is an ever-changing group of friends, whose ranks can vary to form a hushed duet or fifteen-person orchestra. In 2000 and 2002, they wrote and performed their original score to F. W. Murnau's 1922 classic silent film Nosferatu. They have collaborated with Exit Dance Theater, and written music for various short films. For this production, Tiger Saw will include Metrano, Chris Barrett, Dylan Clark, and Erik Tans on a variety of instruments; including trumpet, guitar, bass, percussion, keyboards, and more.
