Membership Program: FAQ
Your membership supports:
AN INDEPENDENT, NON-PROFIT ART HOUSE MOVIE THEATER
We are not part of a national chain of cinemas.
KEEPING OUR SCREENS COMMERCIAL-FREE
Instead of advertisements, you'll see movie trailers or short films before our features.
TOP QUALITY SOUND & PROJECTION
In addition to our 35mm projection, we've invested in the latest digital cinema technology to ensure a premium viewing experience.
MOVIES THAT YOU CAN'T SEE ELSEWHERE
From the big screen to classics-in-the-making, engaging documentaries to local film festival presentations, films from across the globe to the little films that could - we bring you the best in film every day of the year.
FUN & INNOVATIVE "FILM PLUS" PROGRAMMING
Your membership helps us continue special programs you’ve come to love, like Science on Screen, Big Screen Classics, Sounds of Silents, National Theatre Live, Talk Cinema, Coolidge @fter Midnite, and so much more!
PROGRAMS FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY
It's with your help that we can help keep the love of film alive with programs like Wednesday Senior Matinees, ARTZ for Alzheimer's, Box Office Babies, and Kids' Shows.
MAINTAINING OUR HISTORIC THEATRE
We rely on your support to help us maintain the beauty and infrastructure of our art deco theatre.
In addition, revenue from our membership program allows us to keep our regular ticket prices and concession prices affordable. We are proud to offer ticket and concession prices that are lower than the vast majority of area cinemas.
Our current membership program no longer fits the needs of our growing non-profit organization and has become increasingly difficult for our staff to implement. Our hope is that our revamped membership program will convey the benefits in a clearer manner that will enable all of our members to take better advantage of them.
Until your current membership expires, you do NOT need to do anything. For instance, if you purchased a Cinematographer membership on March 15, 2013, you will be able to take advantage of all of the current benefits up until March 15, 2014.
Once your membership expires, however, you will need to renew under our new membership program. Your membership number and website login will remain the same.
No, these will remain the same after you renew.
You will receive a new membership card in the mail only AFTER your current membership expires, and you renew your membership for another year.
The Cinematographer membership level was originally put into place as part of our 75th anniversary celebration [it was then called "The New Deal"]. As a bonus to our members, we decided to extend it past that year. As much as we would love to extend it indefinitely, unfortunately, as a non-profit cinema, we are no longer in a position where it is financially viable to do so.
One-third of all membership fees are tax-deductible.
