Groucho, Harpo, Chico and Zeppo Marx are at their very best in the political satire Duck Soup which is often regarded as the comedy legends’ funniest and most popular film.

Recognized on the AFI’s 100 Years…100 Laughs list and selected for the National Film Registry, this comedy classic features some of the most hilarious sequences every filmed, including the famous mirror sequence and final battle scene, and remains as entertaining and relevant today as it did when it was first released in 1933.

Duck Soup Seminar with Ty Burr, Film Critic at The Boston Globe

Dive in deep on the Marx Brothers classic, with a seminar on the film taught by the Boston Globe’s Ty Burr. For a BBC Culture poll, Burr ranked the film as one of the funniest of all time, noting that “it’s a movie whose ferocious political surrealism seems more relevant than ever.” Seminar attendees will hear Burr will present a short lecture in our Screening Room, watch the film on 35mm in Moviehouse 1, and stay to participate in a post-film discussion led by Burr.

Tickets are $25 ($22 for Coolidge members and students) and include a reserved seat for the film screening.
