2hr 15mins // directed by:Danny Boyle // featuring:Benedict Cumberbatch, Jonny Lee Miller

Internationally-acclaimed filmmaker Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) directs this production of Frankenstein, a new play by Nick Dear, based on the novel by Mary Shelley.

Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal.

Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is adapted for the stage by Nick Dear and realised by Danny Boyle in his return to the theatre after winning the Academy Award for best director for Slumdog Millionaire

Frankenstein enjoyed a sell-out run at the National Theatre, and went on to win awards including the 2012 Olivier Award for Best Actor for Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller. First broadcast to cinemas in 2011, don't miss this second chance to catch Danny Boyle's electrifying stage production as encore screenings take place across the UK and around the world from June 2012.

Jonny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch alternated the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature throughout the show's run at the National Theatre. Jonny Lee Miller will play Victor, and Benedict Cumberbatch will play the Creature on June 17th. The actors will swap characters for the June 25th presentation.
