Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Fri & Sat, April 12 & 13
1hr 58mins // directed by:Terry Gilliam // featuring:Johnny Depp, Benicio Del Toro
It is 1971, and journalist Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp) barrels toward Las Vegas, accompanied by a trunkful of contraband and his slightly unhinged Samoan attorney, Dr. Gonzo (Benicio Del Toro), to cover a motorcycle race.
What should be a cut-and-dried journalistic assignment quickly descends into a feverish psychedelic odyssey. Director Terry Gilliam and an all-star cast also featuring Toby Maguire, Christina Ricci, Gary Busey, and Hunter S. Thompson, show no mercy in bringing Thompson’s roller-coaster ride through the American Nightmare to the screen, creating a film both hilarious and savage.
