Nine-year-old Nikolas has been missing for days. Criminal psychologist Claudia Meinert begins to notice contradictions in her interviews with the parents of the missing child. Nikolas' mother seems to be hiding something. Could she be her own son's kidnapper?

When a video of Nikolas surfaces showing him tied up in a cellar, the trail leads to his school and seems to incriminate not only his own mother and father, but two 13-year-old schoolmates as well. Can Meinert solve this dark web of entanglement and save Nikolas?

On the surface, Bastard is a psychological thriller about the fate of a missing child. Underneath lies a touching drama of children determined for revenge.

Director Carsten Unger studied at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy, graduating with the film The Blue Monkey (Der Blaue Affe). Bastard is his feature directing debut.

In German with English Subtitles.
